Please join #GetOrganizedBK THIS SATURDAY for a rally and DIE-IN on the Brooklyn Borough Hall steps and plaza in defense of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Assemble time: People volunteering to pretend to "Die" please assemble at 10:15 for placement and instructions. Supporters come at 10:30.
What: Patients and healthcare workers will share personal stories of the impact of the ACA. The Die In will follow the speakers.
Why: The GOP just released their bill to gut the ACA. People will ACTUALLY die if the ACA is repealed or replaced with their plan. Tombstones will convey human impact through such messages as, “Couldn’t afford 30% surcharge. RIP.” “Died from a Medicaid roll-back.” “RIP, tax benefit didn’t help me.” “RIP. Empty health savings account.” “Died from lack of health insurance.” “Killed by a preventable disease.” "Died. GOP plan helped the rich, not me."
Props: Tombstones will be provided, or you can bring your own. Please bring signs that highlight your ACA/Medicaid/Medicare stories.
Social media: #DieIn4theACA. Please post and share!
