NoBanNoWall: Soulful Justice Rally

  • NYU Kimmel Center for University Life 60 Washington Square South New York, NY, 10012

On Friday, President Trump signed an executive order that severely restricts immigration from seven Muslim countries, suspends all refugee admission for 120 days, and bars all Syrian refugees indefinitely. A few days earlier, he signed orders to direct the construction of a wall on the US-Mexico border. With rallies and protests happening across the country, our mobilization on campus is critical. Now is not the time to lose momentum. Now is not the time to let up.

We call upon our NYU community to join us in prayer and reflection as we hear the stories of those individuals directly affected by the recent executive orders that have unjustly affected impacted the lives of millions.

This pray-in will also be a chance for students to learn of the concrete steps they can take in the coming days to combat these orders. Following the pray-in, we welcome everyone to gather in Washington Square Park as our Muslim community congregates to offer the last of the daily prayers.

As we find ourselves face to face with the worst in others, it becomes that much more crucial to maintain the best in ourselves. Join us on Wednesday for reflection as we build on this momentum and commit to moving forward. The heart of the resistance beats louder when we find strength in each other.
